What is land use planning anyway?
Land Use Planning creates policies that guide how the land and its resources
will be used. Planning is directed by the social, cultural, and economic
interests of Sahtu beneficiaries, residents, and all Canadians. Both traditional
and scientific knowledge are used as a basis for the plan. The plan may
include:
- Vision for community
development
- Resource and land
management strategies
- Cultural and traditional
land use areas
- Land use and protected
areas
- Monitoring and
review processes
