The Sahtu Land Use Planning Board Library
Since its inception, the Sahtu Land Use Planning Board
has been building a comprehensive library, with information related to
land use planning, the environment, people and history of the Sahtu Region
of the Northwest Territories. The collection contains over 1000 items,
including books, articles, photos, audio-visual materials and maps. Some
of our holdings are available in both digital and paper format.
Library Policies:
- The Sahtu Land Use Planning Board library holdings
are available to the general public.
- The library is a REFERENCE LIBRARY ONLY. Materials
cannot be borrowed. Materials cannot be removed from the planning board
office in Fort Good Hope.
- Materials not covered by copyright laws can be photocopied
at a cost recovery basis. There is a charge of 25 cents per page or
$20 per hour if a member of the Land Use Planning Board staff copies
materials for you. You are welcome to contact the Sahtu Land Use Planning
Board office with requests for specific library sources.
- CD ROMs, videotapes, audio tapes and maps that are
covered by copyright laws cannot be copied.
- CD ROMs, videotapes and audio tapes that are not covered
by copyright laws can be copied at a cost of $20 per hour plus the cost
of the CD ROM, video and/or audio tape. Please see Land Use Planning
Board staff for current costs.
- Maps not covered by copyright laws may be copied.
For those maps produced by the Land Use Planning Board that are larger
than a standard photocopier size, paper or digital copies may be ordered
at a cost recovery basis. Please see Land Use Planning staff for current
costs.
- Certain materials in the library have been deemed
restricted due to their confidential nature. These materials include
community interviews, materials from the NWT Archives and Dene Nations
that are covered by the Access to Information and Privacy Act. To access
these documents, you must obtain written permission from various sources.
- For access to the community interviews conducted
by the Sahtu Land Use Planning Board, written permission must come
from the individual who gave the interview, or their closest living
relative.
- For access to interviews conducted by the Committee
for Original People's Entitlement, written permission must come
from the Chiefs of each Sahtu Community. If only certain Chiefs
provide written permission, only the interviews conducted in those
communities can be accessed.
- For access to the Dene Land Use and Occupancy
Project held by the Dene Nation, permission must come from the Chiefs
of each Sahtu Community. If only certain chiefs provide written
permission, only the interviews and research conducted in those
communities can be accessed.
